Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered condolences for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
