President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed reporters. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The event led the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told a news show that she planned to speak to the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
