This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.
Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.
“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”
The event, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The swine, donated by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It embodies the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
