Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
